Lord,
Christmas is just one day
in a year.

Yet this one day,
for every year I have lived,
has shaped my life.

It has taught me
what I hold dear and precious,
what I truly value,
and what being human really means.

And in the mystery of this day,
I come to see that it is You
who give Yourself to me first—
making it possible for me
to love You at all.
