This morning,
I was unsure about getting out of bed.
Would I feel discomfort again?
Fatigue?
Like the leper,
I found myself asking:
If You want to,
You can cure me.
I felt energy.
I felt alive.
Ready to swim,
cycle,
embrace the outdoors.
The fatigue lifted.
The heaviness eased.
For a moment,
I caught myself contemplating new adventures.
My mind tells me
the medication has finally taken effect.
That this is how the body works.
That there is an explanation.
And yet, my heart tells me something else.
You heard my prayer.
Perhaps healing comes
through ordinary and unseen means,
through medicine and mercy,
through science and grace.
I give thanks
for being fully alive.
