In Moments Like This

God the master of time, never gives the future. He gives only the present, moment by moment.

day 59 – Beatitudes from the Margins

Today, being the Fourth Sunday in Ordinary Time,
my thoughts are with those
who remain on the edges.

Not because they do not love You,
but because the margins feel safer.

Some do not feel ready
to step forward.
Some do not feel confident enough
to join in,
to serve,
to be seen.

Some come carrying wounds.
Some are still finding their footing.
Some are simply tired.

They are not like the women
who followed You openly,
or the apostles
who served You wherever You went.

From where they stand,
the centre can feel like a place
for the confident,
the capable,
the certain.

And there is nothing wrong with that.
You called them too.

But as I sit with today’s Gospel
and the Beatitudes,
I am reminded that discipleship
is not confined to the centre.

Even those who remain on the margins —
like Joseph of Arimathea —
are named disciples in the Gospel,
faithful in quieter, hidden ways.

You never forced anyone forward.
You never rushed those who stayed back.
You noticed people on the edges.
You healed from a distance.
You welcomed quiet faith.

So today,
I want to pray for those
who remain invisible,
yet present.

Blessed are those
who remain on the margins.
Blessed are those
who show up quietly.
Blessed are those
who love without needing to be seen.

Teach me, Lord,
not to measure faith by visibility,
and not to mistake silence for absence.

Because You are already there—
in the quiet corners,
in the peripheries,
in hearts that stay close
even when they remain on the edges.
