The disciples forgot to bring bread.
They had only one loaf with them on the boat,
and they were discussing the fact
that they had no bread.
You had already multiplied bread before their eyes —
so much bread
that they collected twelve baskets in excess.
Now they are on the boat with You,
and they are worried
because they have no food.
They forgot
You had the power
to turn one loaf into many.
From an outsider looking in,
it seems they lacked faith.
But it is always easier
to see the problem from the outside.
Have there been moments
when I forgot something essential?
My wallet, my phone,
an umbrella when it began to pour?
I have always been well-prepared.
So perhaps I have yet
to find myself
truly without bread.
Allow me, Lord,
during the rest of this Lunar New Year season,
to experience going without bread
and trusting in Your power.
