Lent reminds me I need to prune my plants.

My periwinkles,
my kaffir lime plants,
my curry plant.

My butterfly belt will look bare for awhile.
I’ll start counting till the day the new shoots sprout.

I have no idea what is happening with their cells,
how it is possible
that they will look even more lush than yesterday.

But You know.

What about me?
What needs to be pruned?
What is excessive
that needs to be removed?
So that Your light can reach deeper.
