Bestow on us, we pray,
O Lord,
a spirit of always pondering
on what is right
and of hastening to carry it out.

As I looked at my pruned plants today,
I thought about what I do not need to be carrying around.

I thought of the people who occupy spaces in my heart.
There are some who are not helping me grow,
whose words weigh heavy.
Some whose presence stirs restlessness, not peace.

This Lent,
teach me to ponder on what is right and
to act on it without delay.
